I am a Professor of Educational Psychology at University of Illinois Chicago, working remotely. My husband works at Purdue. My family has lived in West Lafayette for 16 years. Our three children have attended West Lafayette Schools since they were each in kindergarten.

I am tremendously grateful for the outstanding education my children have received in our schools. I am eager to give back to the community by sharing my passion, expertise, and perspectives.

I have served on the West Lafayette School Board since 2021. I have recorded my work on the board in the reports.
Why Run Again?
Our district is a top school district which offers a safe, friendly, and nurturing environment, rigorous academic standards, overall great student performance, and excellent extracurricular activities.

With a growth mindset, I believe that we can further improve our district with the team of residents who highly value public education, devoted families, hardworking and caring teachers, staff members, administrators, and motivated students--Striving for excellence in all aspects of education, such as:

-
Quality Education for All Students
-
Strong Support for Teachers and Staff
-
Prudent Spending
-
Transparency and Communication
-
Data-Driven Decision-Making

I have promoted and supported many positive changes in my first term, such as:
-
Increasing teachers' salaries with every contract
-
Seeking community feedback on various issues, such as the superintendent search, special education, high ability programs, after-school care, curriculum review, and class size
-
Releasing board documents before meetings to keep the community informed
-
Starting district social media
-
Updating district website
-
Reducing annual fee for legal service by more than 80%
-
Consolidating two CFO positions into one
-
Providing more after school care options
-
Starting a preschool class in WLES
For details, please review my work reports.

During my first term, I have deepened my understanding of the challenges our district faces and the diverse needs within our district by attentively listening to our community. I have also learned the pathways to address these challenges and meet those needs.

I am eager to serve our district again and promote positive changes through my passion for public education, experience on the board, deeper understanding of our community's needs, expertise in educational research and quantitative methods, and collaboration with the new board team.
Endorsements
Some community members, including parents of West Lafayette school students and alumni, have shared their observations of my work as a school board member. I am using only their initials for endorsements to protect their privacy, as most of them currently have minor children in our schools.
